How to enter South Korea Visa-Free? (Manila to YangYang Flight Info here!)

How to get to YangYang (Gangwon, South Korea) Airport from Manila NAIA

Many of us heard the planned Visa-Free privileges of the people of the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia for the country of South Korea, given they will enter through YangYang International Airport, which is located in Gangwon, a province 158 km. from Seoul. (No official statement has been released so far from the Korean Embassy, but updates can be found via Preview.ph. )

The reason for this move is to boost the Korean tourism, especially the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in PyeongChang which is deeply affected by recent North Korean actions.  Analysts predict it could turn into a war. Sales are lower than expected upon nearing its kickoff on February 9.

Information about YangYang International Airport

There are no direct flights from Manila (MNL) to YangYang (YNY). YangYang is not a busy airport. Connecting flights from Manila would be probably self-arranged, i.e. you may need to exit from the Arrivals area of the destination, get your checked-in baggage, and check it in again. for your next flight. Generally, it is impossible to have a connecting flight from Incheon (ICN) to any domestic destination in South Korea since all flights via Incheon are international and you cannot go out to transfer to the domestic Gimpo Int'l airport since you do not have a South Korean visa. The only way to be safe is to travel via the visa-free countries.

Jeju to YangYang Flights

The only known flight available on the web to YangYang is from Jeju (aside from Shanghai, which is not visa-free to Filipinos). This is thru Korea Express Air.

NOTE: As of now, there are still limited flights available but you should check the website from time to time and probably, flights would be active once visa-free privileges are OFFICIALLY granted.

Not sure on how to activate the English site but I gave up and just used Google Translate to be able to understand it. The website also requires being registered. Apparently, buttons and some parts can't be fully translated. Maybe you should search for a Korean friend to do the booking for you. Lucky you, if you understand Korean! :)

Korea Express Air partially translated.
