Marfel's Lodge Annex: Your home in Batanes

Image
Batanes is a beautiful province. Everywhere you look at is a postcard but it is inevitable to say that it is still underdeveloped but it can be a good thing since the entire province is being preserved in terms of its natural abundance.  That being said. Hotels are non existent here. Instead hometels and homestays are the popular and most probably the only way to stay in this province, as of 2018.  I booked Marfel's Lodge Annex and availed the Fan Room with just 500 peso rate. AC rate on the other hand is double the rate which is 1000 pesos. There are 4 rooms in the annex which are all having AC and fan on-board. When you avail the fan rate, they just cut the electricity to the AC socket so you can't use it. It is summer when I came and there are times that there will be rain, so it can be cold already but when it is hot, it is really hot. Because the roof is cemented, you can feel heat when it's hot and cold when it's raining. The caretaker is really kind. But she has

How to enter South Korea Visa-Free? (Manila to YangYang Flight Info here!)

Image
How to get to YangYang (Gangwon, South Korea) Airport from Manila NAIA Many of us heard the planned Visa-Free privileges of the people of the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia for the country of South Korea , given they will enter through YangYang International Airport, which is located in Gangwon, a province 158 km. from Seoul. (No official statement has been released so far from the Korean Embassy , but updates can be found via Preview.ph . ) The reason for this move is to boost the Korean tourism, especially the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in PyeongChang which is deeply affected by recent North Korean actions .  An alysts predict it could turn into a war.  Sales are lower than expected  upon nearing its kickoff on February 9. Information about YangYang International Airport There are no direct flights from Manila (MNL) to YangYang ( YN Y). YangYang is not a busy airport. Connecting flights from Manila would be probably self-arranged, i.e. you may need to exit f

Travel Insurance: Necessity or just a gimmick?

Image
I already came across different flight booking sites and I always see insurance as one of the add-ons. They say you're already adulting when you understand and care about insurance. So basically, what is insurance? Insurance is an agreement between the policyholder and the insurance company to have the policyholder compensated for the loss, damage or any inconvenience in a particular activity, service or product. One of these is the travel insurance. In case you missed a flight, lost a baggage or anything inconvenient related to your flight happens, the insurance company will have you covered in terms of expenses, depending on the plan you purchased and the terms entailed on that plan. The pro having a travel insurance on flights is that it is convenient to register as it is applied as an add-on upon booking and it is really cheap. The con is that most of the time, it does not cover life and health insurance which could be dangerous financially especially if it happens in a hig

Go Hotels Airport Road Preview

Image
Just found out that Go Hotels are based on one united design and I didn't notice significant difference with my stay here on the Airport Road compared to the North Edsa one. I won't do any reviews here, just preview. Anyway, service has always been great. Good thing they have feedback forms, so they can't screw you up. :) I stayed here for a night because of the Road to Ultra Philippines which will be held at MoA Arena and I'll be staying late at night, so I booked here. Go Hotels Airport Road Facade View from my room overlooking NAIAX Go Hotels Airport Road Lobby Vending Machine and Eating Area (You can't eat in the rooms, there's a penalty :)) Location: It's really near the Coastal Mall area. Just a 2-3 minute walk from the crossing. I didn't include the room as it is really identical to the one I stayed in  Go Hotels North EDSA . Maybe because these two branches are just newly installed ones, they even share the

Go Hotels North EDSA Review

Photo taken from website. Go Hotels are budget hotels developed by Robinson's Land Corporation under JG Summit Holdings. These hotels operate through out the Philippines with the "Book early, Pay Less" concept, which is just perfect for those who avail budget-friendly stay during their budget travels. This is coinciding with air flights which have the same concept. Most hotels do the opposite as it is a standard worldwide. As it is a budget hotel basic amenities include a shampoo with conditioner and soap. It has a modern vibe but space is not that much, which is not an issue esp. for us solo travelers. Toilet and Shower feature modern styles but it is really small but again it is not an issue with me because I don't stay too much in these places, lol. Addt'l kits are available in the hotel lobby.  There are two bath towels and a hand towel. From time-to-time, they offer good deals for as low as 600. Regular rates play at around 1,500. The lighting is

3D/2N Singapore-Malaysia Budget Solo Sight-Seeing for just $250 with airfare!

Image
It's always been a dream of mine to experience life outside my own country and thanks to the frequent airline sales that made this trip possible! It was Cebu Pacific's piso sale and I have scored a one-way ticket to Singapore for only 15 USD or 700 PHP all-in! I've heard some peeps getting as low as 10 USD or 500 PHP but I don't really mind the close gap as 700 PHP is still cheap. At that time,  the return ticket is expensive so I booked at AirAsia which apparently has a sale also. My return ticket from AirAsia is from Kuala Lumpur to Manila priced at 2,300 all-in, which includes an insurance since I'm quite not sure about the airline as the AirAsia incident  is quite still fresh at that time. (Quite courageous, huh). I did the 3D/2N trip on the first week of December. Day 0 Departure from Manila NAIA T3: 8:30PM I paid 1620 PHP or approx. 35 USD for the Travel Tax payment required to all Filipino travelers leaving the country, with some  exempt
